Tips to Prepare for Your Engagement Session.

January 22, 2025 Wedding

Take time to connect with each other beforehand...

Take some time the morning before and even time after the session to connect with each other. Utilize this opportunity to help grow your relationship and prepare for your session or take in all of the fun of your session. This also helps you to calm done and relax before the session to help it flow and seem less scary.

Go to a meaningful location...

I love the idea of being adventurous and crazy. If possible, let's find a location that is meaningful to you, your partner, and your relationship. It would be fun to check out your first date spot, favorite date spot, school campus, favorite bar, and more. Do you guys like to do something together? Well, let's go check it out and create a session that is meaningful and MEMORABLE.

Bring your pets or children...

Please always feel free to bring your pets and any children. I love to include a few full family shots. They represent YOUR RELATIONSHIP! Just let me know beforehand so I can be sure I get the PERFECT pet-friendly location.

Dress to fit your style...

I know there are tons of different trends all over social media, but I will always recommend to dress to YOUR style! Your engagement session is about you and your partner, not the most current trends on social media. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with dressing to the trends but I want these photos to last forever, and not all trends last forever. Another tip is rather than matching your outfits, just have them coordinate.

Bring props or trinkets...

Who said that your session has to be plain? NOT ME! I am all for the fun props and neat things that make your relationship, well YOURS! Whether it's a handwritten love note, a special gift, an uno reverse card, and more. I will work to add it to your session to create meaningful moments and capture the personality and charm of your relationship.

Make a day date out of it...

Your session doesn't need to be from "6 pm to 7 pm". Make a day of it, get dolled up, and enjoy each other's company. Use it to connect and have fun. Go for a hike in the morning, dinner after, a movie, or more.

Search your favorite poses...

Use social media to your advantage! Utilize all of the apps to find your favorite poses and ideas for your session. I may not be able to mirror the image but I can certainly be able to recreate it to the best of my abilities.

Don't be afraid to communicate with me...

Please don't be afraid to talk with me about anything and everything. Need advice on poses, feel uncomfortable in a pose, need wedding planning advice, anything you can think of about weddings. I am willing to listen and give you the best advice I can give and help any way I can.

Clean your ring...

Take your ring into the shop a day or two before your session to have it cleaned. This will allow the sparkle to be a MAX power day of your session.

Men get the hair cut...

It may not be the time to try out a new hairstyle, BUT is a good idea to get a clean-up or trim before the session, to make sure you are looking your best the day of!

Ladies check out the nail salon...

While getting pampered with hair and make-up the day of is a recommendation. (Doing those yourself are totally fine). But those fingers are going to be a star with the bling of the day. Press-ons or full nail salon treatment, have those nails looking FIRE for the day of shine!

Pack an "emergency" bag...

It may not be an "emergency" happening but it can be helpful to have everything packed in a bag rather than thrown around in your car. Things I would recommend packing are an extra outfit, flip flops (for walking between spots), a small make-up bag for touch-ups, a water bottle (for the warmer sessions), a coat/cover-up (for the colder sessions), and fun props/trinkets.

Don't be afraid let loose...

This is a paragraph. Click edit and enter your own text. You can make changes like making the text bold, underline or italic. This is a great place for you to tell your clients more about your story and to describe the type of photographer you are. You can come back at any time to make more changes.
